Our Neighborhood
Located on the corner of Jewell and Emerald, we are in the heart of Pacific Beach and easy access to lots of fun.
Sometimes I hear that Pacific Beach has a reputation of being a “party town”, but as someone who has lived here for over 9 years, I have watched it grow to be a foodie and family-centric place.
What might you do nearby, once you’ve dropped off your child?
*Walk the beach- I personally love staring at the grassy overlook on Law Street and walking to the the pier and out onto it and back. BUT you may just want to relax on the grass and enjoy the view!
*Get a coffee- our friend and former Birdrock barista, Chris, has opened Coffee Cycle on Grand at Ingraham and it is so amazing! Plus the pastries are vegan, but you would never know it! If coffee isn’t your thing, you may deserve a cupcake- check out Pure Cupcakes. My favourite is the passion fruit coconut!
* Take your coffee up to Kate Sessions Park for a full view of the bay, coast and the city. Great perspective, people watching, cloud watching and dog watching!
*Go to a yoga class- check out the yoga studios just blocks away, or go a bit farther to Riffs in Birdrock for an outdoor class on their garden deck. I love hearing the hummingbirds’ kissing sounds as I’m having a beautiful self-care moment
*Take care of shopping, kid-free! We are nestled between two shopping areas which include Trader Joe’s, Tuesday Morning, Vons, Rite Aide, Staples, CVS, pet stores and so much more. Dry cleaning, Jamba Juice and get a massage? Those centers have you covered.
*Pick up a unique and thoughtful gift for a friend- Pangea or The Land’s End Gallery are just the place. Bonus points if you spot my art at the Gallery!
If it is Parent’s Night Out, here are a few of my husband and my favourite spots (in no particular order, we just love good food!). Many of these have won San Diego food awards for years running.
*Iron Pig
*The Patio
*Enoteca Adriano
*Rocky’s burgers
*Hoboken Pizza
*Cafe Athena
*Bare Back Grill
*The Waterbar
*La Perla
